Ornamental plate "Uzhhorod castle"
The chronicles mention that in the 9th-10th centuries. there was probably a wooden fortress on the territory of Uzhgorod. Nevertheless, the stone walls of the castle themselves date back to the 13th century. It is known that in 1318, the King of Hungary, Charles Robert of Anjou, presented the Uzhgorod Castle to the commander of his troops, Philip Druget. The Druget family was of Italian, French origin, so they brought characteristic architectural notes, vineyards, probably coffee, etc. to these lands. In total, the Druget dynasty ruled in Uzhgorod for 350 years. The last rulers of the castle were Mikolos Bercheny and Christina Csaki, who created a real “family nest” in the castle, organized magnificent receptions and led a secular European life. But their reign ended after Bercheny rebelled against the then emperors of Austria-Hungary - the Habsburgs. Eventually, he and his wife had to flee to Turkey, and in 1776 the castle was handed over to the Mukachevo Greek Catholic Diocese, which created a theological seminary there. The Knights' Hall was converted into a chapel, painted by Ferdinand Vydra.
Since 1945, the Uzhhorod Castle has housed the Transcarpathian Museum of Local Lore named after Tyvodar Legotsky, and exhibitions, interesting events, archaeological excavations, and new exhibits are constantly being held, so even if you have been here once, there is always a reason to visit again and learn something new!

Do not cut food on a plate, because used glass is deformed not for the first time and can be scratched when scraping with metal objects.

If for some reason the product did not suit you, we can make a replacement (at the expense of the recipient) or refund the money. To do this, contact us no later than 14 days after receipt.
